Music

I know that almost everyone listens to music, so I have a question to ask. Do you listen to music for the beat, or for the words. If you listen to the songs for sounds, and don't listen for the words, then you probably like instrumental or techno music. Then there are the people who listen to the words in music then you know that the words convey strong emotions, whether it is sadness, happiness, or loneliness.

Most country music is sad, and you can listen to the words, and end up sobbing because it hits you so hard. Here is an example of Rebe McEntire's "What Do You Say" ,but make sure that you have a tissue with you.

Stuck at a red light outside an adult bookstore
His son said, "daddy, what are all those x's for"
As the light turned green he changed the subject fast
He started talkin' 'bout football as they drove right past

Chorus:
What do you say in a moment like this
When you can't find the words oh to tell it like it is
Just bite your tongue and let your heart lead the way
Let's get out of here oh what do you say

Seventeen years old she was out with her friends
They started drinken' at some party 'til she was three sheets to the
Wind
Her momma always told her she can call no matter what
She was cryin' on the front steps when her mom showed up

Repeat chorus

Sometimes you got to listen to the silence
And give yourself a little time to think

Her every breath is weaker than the last
And lately when she sleeps she talks about the past
Her husband knows she's tired of holding on
She looks at him and says I want to go home

What do you say in a moment like this
When you can't find the words to tell it like it is
Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way
Oh what do you say

Now compare this to the song from Queen "You're My Best Friend", which I have to admit makes me happy every time I here it.

Then there is the song by Elvis Presley called "Are You Lonesome Tonight", which is asking you plainly, are you lonely.

Then there are the people who listen to music just to sing to it, for example my best friend Anna loves to sing to "I Caught Myself" by Paramore.

All-in-all I am saying that music can do anything, it is like some kind of unspoken magic. You can listen to a song and it starts to comfort you, make you feel like your mother is rocking you to sleep. It can also make you cry like when you broke up with your boyfriend, or smile when you won an award. Music is powerful, captivating, and extraordinary, nothing can surpass the feeling you get when you turn on the radio, or put your headphones on, and become engulfed in the force that is music.

American Idol

Do you have a favorite reality TV show ? Well, my favorite reality TV show is American Idol. If you have never watched American Idol then let me explain the show to you , this is a show where singers, from the age of sixteen to twenty-eight, audition to be on the show. The contestants indure a series of different rounds, until finally a winner is crowned. The winner receives a recording contract and the prestigious title of "American Idol."

Some people watch American Idol for the judges only, the entertainment of bickering, smug remarks, and playful banter. Personally I think the judges and spice to the show but different people have different opinions. Which brings me to my next subject, http://www.americanidol.com/. This web site is made by Fox, the channel that American Idol is on, and this is were all of the fans get together and share their opinions on the most recent episode.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

defaultHow would you feel if your parents died to protect you, and you lived? Wouldn't you feel sad, lonely, and responsible for their death? Well that's how Harry Potter felt when he grew up and found out what happened. Well in this book he finally owns up to the name of "The boy who lived." If you haven't read any of the previous Harry Potter books then let me catch you up to speed. Harry was given the name "the boy who lived" because Voldemort the evil wizard tried to kill Harry but his mother and father died instead. This happened because his mother loved him enough to shield him from the fire of Voldemort's wand. From that point on Harry and Voldemort were bound together by an invisible force. Because of this mysterious force one of them has to die, and each hope that it is the other.

In this book the force is finally broken after such a long time. Harry and Voldemort have been at each others neck for months now, but this time it was war. Harry, Ron, and Hermione set out to find the seven horcrux's because they knew that, that was the only way to defeat Voldemort. They set out on the quest to find the horcrux's and ran into many different obstacles along the way. Then one day Voldemort and his army of Death Eaters descended upon the ground of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and opened fire. The battle was getting rough so Voldemort requested that Harry come out and face him one on one and he would have his Death Eaters stand down. Even though Harry knew he was setting himself up for death he went to save his friends. He arrived in the forest disarmed and prepared himself for death.Voldemort shot his deadly curse and Harry fell as he should, but he didn't die, how could this happen? After this happens Harry has a talk with Dumbledore, in his subconscious, and decides that he needs to go back and finish his duty, to kill the evil of all time.

The famous battle starts and Harry explained how he was going to beat him, Voldemort shot the killing curse and it backfired, he was dead. The rain of Voldemort's reign of terror was finally over and Harry Potter was no longer in danger anymore.

The Festival of Colours

The Festival of Colors is actually celebrating the coming of spring. The Festival of Colors, is a joyous festival open to anyone. As a get-together for everyone, elderly, infants, children, and adults come for this festival. That is why this festival is known for uniting people as one.

The event, held for one day, is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima, which is at the end of February or the beginning of March. This is part of an Indian tradition. The purpose of this festival is to join people together and to free their minds. On the day of the festival, people tell stories, send blessings, and shower people in different colors made from abeer and gulal. Abeer is a powder made of small chips of micha, and is mixed with gulal to make it shine.
