The Festival of Colours

The Festival of Colors is actually celebrating the coming of spring. The Festival of Colors, is a joyous festival open to anyone. As a get-together for everyone, elderly, infants, children, and adults come for this festival. That is why this festival is known for uniting people as one.

The event, held for one day, is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima, which is at the end of February or the beginning of March. This is part of an Indian tradition. The purpose of this festival is to join people together and to free their minds. On the day of the festival, people tell stories, send blessings, and shower people in different colors made from abeer and gulal. Abeer is a powder made of small chips of micha, and is mixed with gulal to make it shine.
